The KFC Franchise, opened in 1973.
History
Established in 1995
Starting as the original Dairy-Land Drive-In, the Kilpatrick family owned and operated the property. Then around 1970, the Kilpatrick’s decided to bring in a KFC franchise.
In 1973 the Dairy-Land Drive-In was removed, and construction began to build a KFC. The property remained owned by the Kilpatrick family, but the KFC business was purchased by Mr. Kohl.
In the early 1990’s, the KFC franchise was closed. However, business continued to blossom as the bar Roosters Roost opened. After maintaining business for a couple of years, The Point Bar & Grill opened in 1995, known for its food, great choice of drinks and California beach vibes.

Present
New Beginnings
In the summer of 2025, Zane Heavner and Hunter Lewis became owners of The Point. With goals of maintaining the excellent quality of food, friendly hard-working bartenders, and welcoming atmosphere.
Always looking for his next adventure, Zane Heavner retired from the army in 2021, serving for over 25 years, 20 as a Green Beret for the Special Forces. After decades of leadership, worldwide adventures, and selfless service, a medical emergency would cause a drastic change in his life. The food and bar business has always been something that has intrigued Zane, and with a almost lifelong experience of being a leader, becoming a bar owner was a seamless pivot once he left the Army.
Hunter Lewis has always had his life revolve around community and business, with his grandfather establishing Bill’s Equipment Rental & Supply. Hunter and his brother Wylie are the third generation operating the company. Their business is both their livelihood and their passion, and they take pride in serving the Colorado Springs community. Being an avid supporter and loyal customer to The Point for years, when the opportunity came for him and Zane to come in as the new owners, he did not hesitate to take the chance to serve others and support his favorite local bar.

What's The Point?
Since being under new management, The Point Bar & Grill has undergone a multitude of changes and enhancements to bring a positive, yet familiar atmosphere to regulars and new customers alike!
The outdoor patio has been refurbished, providing a scenic environment to enjoy the Cheyenne Mountain view. New booze has been introduced, including an IPA on tap. Feeling hungry? The Point has got your back with an array of specials and a brunch menu on Sundays!
New deals and events have also been introduced to keep the party going. Watch the Broncos or any of your favorite sports teams with deals on food and drinks, as well as happy hour times. Trivia nights are a great time to get together with friends to test your knowledge over a full service bar and restaurant, with even more events to come soon!
At The Point, service and community always comes first. Our mission is to quench thirsts, satisfy appetites, and have a good ol’ time, all in an incredible and scenic local establishment!
